Clay modelling

We celebrated the end of SATs by doing some clay work Thursday afternoon.

We had to make coils out of clay then shaped them into Greek pots.

We are very excited to begin our new topic-learning about Ancient Greece.

Pupils have made some "egg-xcellent" models of Queen Elizabeth 11 in celebration of her 90th birthday.

Everyone in 6.1 wishes you a "cracking" good Easter

SPORTS RELIEF 2016

Today we supported sports relief!
Here we are after we ran a mile for sports relief. As you can see,  we are red faced and tired, but it was all for a good cause. Children and teachers donated £2 each to wear their sports clothes and run the mile. In class we learnt all about Sports Relief, we watched a video about a girl called Champa who lives in the slums in Dhaka the capital of Bangladesh.  She has to work everyday and is only 10 years old. The money that we raised today will go towards helping children like Champa have a better life.  We also considered which Unicef Articles Champa's life breaks.  We found a horrifying 7! It certainly made us realise how lucky we are.

Cat in the Hat introduces World Book Day Thursday 3rd March.

6.1 had a fantastic day on 4th March for World Book Day.  We all dressed up and based our work on The Wonderful Wizard of Oz.  We read different  parts of the book and answered comprehension questions about it.   Here are the Year 6 team dressed as characters (and an important part of the setting!) from the story.

World Maths Day March 3rd.
6.1 really had a fun-filled Maths day.
Most children dressed up very imaginatively.

The numbers had been sewn onto this T shirt.

A human calculator!

We could just "use" this T shirt to calculate our times tables.

The winner of the dressing up-well done!

Thank you for making such a wonderful game at home.  I bet we could sell it in Smiths!

Here are a selection of 6.1's photographs from our educational trip to RAF Cosford.  We learnt about life at home and in the air during World War 2
